Making Space for Two Truths
This art journaling prompt is about exploring contradictions or tensions you hold within yourself—how two things can be true at the same time. You don’t have to fix or solve anything. Just notice, and give it shape.
Step 1: Split the Page
Draw a line down the middle of your page. Label one side with one truth, and the other side with its opposite or its partner.
Some examples:
“I feel strong” / “I feel tired”
“I want change” / “I fear change”
“I’m grateful” / “I’m grieving”
Choose a pair that feels real for you right now.
Step 2: Express Each Side
Use color, texture, shapes, or symbols to express each truth on its side of the page.
Let each one have its own space and voice.
One side might be bold and chaotic, the other soft and simple. Or both might be loud. Or quiet. There’s no wrong way.
You can also add words or images if they help.
Step 3: Make a Bridge
Now look at the middle space—where the two truths meet.
Add a shape, mark, or image that connects the two sides. It could be a thread, a spiral, a hand, a path—whatever feels right.
This is the space where you don’t have to choose one truth over the other.
Sit with what it feels like to hold both.
